I don't know what happened to my date/time stamp in exif, but these were all shot within an hour last year, on a very smoky morning.

The changes in sun color between the first two are close to reality. #3 an #4 are reflections in a pond, plus the raven has been added - as has a texture

I welcome your impressions, feedback, edits. Many thanks!

My favorites are the first, and the shot that highlights the orbweaver's web. That first shot is as it looked, real time? It is remarkable.

In the fourth, the fact that the sun was a reflection seemed apparent, to me. If you left it, right there, it would be a nice, moody photo, with the silhouette effect you do so well. Inserting the raven in that shot made me think too much about the possible ways a raven could have been there, naturally.

Thanks so much for your time, Jim! Here is a zeroed out dng-to-jpg of the original of #1. In PS Elements I left the WB at "as shot" (auto WB in camera). It most represents the original color, which was a soft pink through heavy gray smoke just after sunrise. As the sun climbed higher, it turned yellow-orange, such as in #2.

I had reservations about #4 and am glad you gave me your impression. I may need to figure out a way to go more fanciful so that people feel it's clever rather than confounding

So glad you commented!

Linda, these are all wonderful. The last one is rather spectacular.

I do like the cropped version of #1. Putting the sun off-center is a good move.

Beautiful shots Linda. I really like all of the. The EXIF is indeed strange. It shows all of them shot at exactly the same time...1/27/2018 at 8:47 am and all less than 2 seconds apart. Nevertheless, great work.

My exif reader shows the date as yesterday, which is when I edited They were shot in September 2017. I'm thinking there was a time during the hot, smoky summer that I had taken the battery out. I bet when I re-inserted for that morning I ignored the warning that the date/time needed to be reset. Thanks so much for commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed!

You took great advantage of the only benefit of the smoky skies-dramatic photo ops! I really enjoyed these and have spent a bit of time exploring. I love the color and detail of #2. You captured the very fine bits of web on the head of the thistle! I love the composition of #1 but am not crazy about the color even though I know it is actual. Those were strange times. #3 is a super composition with great bokeh and more glistening webs. I hope you don’t have to deal with the smoke again but I’m glad you were able to use it well while it was there!

Thanks for taking a look, Carol! That was near the end of 5+ weeks when some days were listed "hazardous" air quality and many were close. Of course, just second-hand smoke is nothing compared to being in or near the actual fires, but you're right about photo ops

Very good composition, Linda. Good eye! I've been known to add a sun or a moon to an image but haven't done it recently. (I used to love it when I'd hear people say "How'd she do that?") Your pictures are prompting me to look back on images that I have to see if I can spend some creative time on them and hope that I can come up with good pictures like yours. You're a helpful inspiration! -- PixieJackie
