Congratulations and best of luck in your new career. My Girlfriend's son since childhood wanted to be a firefighter and pursued his dream. He is now the youngest Captain in his towns FD. Made Captain 5 years out of the academy.

Definitely going to be a challenge. I weigh about 90 pounds, and the turnouts alone weigh about 80, so just wearing them is a challenge. On top of that, I will have to overcome many more challenges. I am only like 5 feet tall. haha. And I will keep y'all posted, as well as put up as many photos as I can of the explorers.

My dept. had an explorer post when I was junior in high school and I joined immediately. I was one of the original 6 to join. I was the first to graduate out due to age after almost 3.5 years. I was the most active of all the members at the time too plust the post photographer. Since I was the most active and had to step up since I was also the secretary, I didn't get many photos then. At least I learned a lot. I am only 5'1'' so I know what you mean about the gear since all the explorers on the post here had to wear gear too. You'll make it if you set your mind to it. Good Luck.
