MOV file audio problem with Windows 10

Does the old Coolpix P7800 use an outdated codec for the MOV videos, and if so, is there a way to fix this? Initially I was getting no audio from the MOV videos recorded. I downloaded and installed K-Lite Codec pack and now have audio, but only in one channel. In the file properties, it shows a bit rate: of 125 kbps, Channels: 2 (stereo), and audio sample rate 48,000 kHz. If I use a conversion software to change the MOV file to an AVI file, the bit rate: 128 kbps, Channels: 2 (stereo), and audio sample rate 44,000 kHz. Sound still only comes out of one speaker with the converted file. I have a Coolpix S9700 and there is no problem playing the MOV files. That's what makes me wonder if this is a codec problem and how/if it can be fixed.

Please don't suggest QuickTime, as Apple no longer supports it in Windows. I have the last version and the problem still exists when playing the P7800 videos with it. I'm using Windows 10 Professional 64 bit version. I've tried VLC, Windows Media Player, GOM, and Media Player Classic.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looks like further troubleshooting has uncovered the problem. Since the Coolpix P7800 has a microphone input jack, I connected an external microphone. No problem with the audio. I then went back to the internal microphone and also went into the Windows sound settings to adjust the balance when playing back the video. There is a clicking sound on one channel with no other audio on that channel. This would seem to indicate that one of the stereo microphones in the camera is at fault.
