There are several eagle nests up stream along the reservoir at Green Lane park. These birds will fly the prekiomen down to the Schuylkill in search of a meal. One spot I found that is good for spotting the eagles is, when the water is low, at the base of, I think it's called lower Indian head road, it's right along the Perkiomen trail. It's about a quarter mile below one of the old Mill dams where the Perkiomen is fairly wide. I've seen eagles perched in the trees above the water looking for fish. It's also a good spot for great blue herons and green herons and lots of other flying fauna and river otters.

I've been to the dam at the sanctuary via the trail on the Lower Perkiomen Valley Park side.
Looking at a map, I believe the dam you may be talking about is upstream, just below where Skippack Creek joins the Perkiomen.

Yes, that's the one. There's a company called SEI on the hill just up from the spot. When the water is high the spot is under water but when the water is low you can walk upstream from the spot almost to the dam. I've also seen quite a few belted Kingfishers back there.

I want to photograph humming birds but I only get one bird to the feeder and it doesn't stay around very long. It apparently loves the sugar water but not when I sit outside. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is a magazine called Birds and Blooms and they have an annual hummingbird edition that is loaded with suggestions on how to attract hummingbirds. Keep in mind the hummingbird's main diet is not nectar, it is insects. The nectar gives them the energy they need to go after insects. There are certain plants that attract the insects they feed on.
I don't know if you use store bought hummingbird nectar mix or use a sugar water recipe from the internet but if you do use the store bought stuff, don't. No need for red dye and the premix stuff is a waste of money.
Mix up a big bottle of nectar and keep it refrigerated. Change the nectar in the feeders often, it goes bad fairly quickly and the hotter out the quicker it goes bad.

Hello all, my name is Robyn and I've been an enthusiast amateur photographer for many years. I enjoy learning and practicing just about all aspects of photography although I've pretty much retired my film cameras. I currently own Canon, Nikon and Sony digital cameras as use Canon most often because I have more Canon EF mount lenses... Although I have done numerous paid jobs over the years I don't consider myself nor am I a professional photographer; I'll leave that title to the folks who earned a living with the camera. My home is in the main line suburbs of the city of brotherly love. I'm looking forward to making new friends here on the UHH.

About a mile or so north of the tracks.
