*aka Paula Van Every. Soon we can say, "We knew her when..."

The Luminous Landscape website posted this article, along with many of our favorite dam bird photos, spotlighting Minnie's achievements of the past year:

- Southern Exposure Grant from the Luminous Endowment for Photographers
- her work with Keep America Beautiful and its clean-up of the river and dam that she photographs
- Mississippi Museum of Natural Science gallery exhibit
- Chastaine-Flynt public library exhibit
- state competition wins
(another location we know from her UHH postings: a "Swamp Child" won in this contest)

More photos on Minnie's website.
Her UHH topics are here

Congratulations, Paula (who will always be Minnie to me ). You are an inspiration to us all!

Wow! Just Wow!

Congratulations to Minnie/Paula for such fine work. I’ve been following her photos here, but had no idea she was becoming not only a celebrity of sorts, but also such an environmentalist.

My hat’s off to her for her successful projects, and to you, Linda, for making us aware.

Folks really should take the time to explore all her works through the links in the magazine to further appreciate the great work she does with the camera. I did, and I was awed by it.

That's certainly an achievement - and rightly earned for all her hard work. I have enjoyed her photography of these birds.

You make me blush Linda! But thank you so much for the nice tribute and sharing my story. What I’ve done with this project is as much a reflection on all of my friends here as it is to me. The feedback (yes, both positive and negative), I’ve had here helped shape this project and make it successful. I did a radio interview last week and one of the questions was where I studied photography. I told them I had never taken a photography course but learned by doing and from friends on the 3 photography forums I’ve had the blessing to participate in.

THANK YOU to all the good folk of FYC.
You make me blush Linda

Aw gee whiz RG, I’ve never really gone away! I‘ll be posting the Masters as always later today if I can figure how to do it from my ipad!

I have cut back, I confess, on my participation in FYC and in DPR, due to my responsibilities on pM, but I’m never really gone and may be able to do more now that the dam bird project is complete and the final paperwork is finished. I never worked so hard for so little $, but it was more than worth it. What I learned and gained was priceless.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Like I told Linda, I owe much of what I’ve done to the wonderful online community of peers who’ve given me honest feedback over the years to help me shape my style and build my skills.

I realized I didn't thank you for your generosity of time and interest in helping develop other photographers' visions, as well. Some use UHH as a personal website and care little for interaction, some use it as free entertainment for the displays of the worst of internet behavior. But you have always been committed to learning and sharing, so thank you very much for that!

Your role in creating and maintaining the May/June four-part series on light was invaluable. I do wish you'd host the next share thread, though
