When you set the “remote on duration” to the 15 minute setting (Nikon D7200), does that mean after 15 minutes the remote times out and it has to be reset regardless of how many shots you’ve taken? Or would it time out after 15 minutes of inactivity? My manual doesn’t really say. And I get conflicting info online. I’m sitting outside trying to get a shot of a hummingbird And got to wondering if the remote duration is going to time out if I don’t see a hummer within 15 minutes.
Agh. Hummer was just here while I’m typing this and I missed him. 😁. Anyway, if anyone knows the answer, thanks for the info.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that set up, but why do you want to set a duration to begin with? Why not just turn it on and leave it on until a hummer shows and then just take a pic? (at least that's the way I do it, I sit somewhere in the yard and enjoy a cold one, while the camera sits somewhere in the house, pointing to the feeder. Whenever I see a hummer going to the feeder, I take a pic!
I guess that’s another part my question. Is there a way to turn it on and leave it on? I hate the 15 minute timer. You can also choose 1, 5 or 10 minutes. There’s no option for just plain “on” as far as I can see. I’d like to use the remote as long as I want without it timing out and re-setting. Your way sounds the best. Enjoying a cold one until the hummer shows up. 😁
I think the Auto Off option is a feature, not a bug. You'll have to resort to pressing the shutter release to the focus setting to keep the camera awake.

Yes, a half press every fifteen minutes will do the trick. I don't really understand why that isn't an option either...

From what I recall, the remote will not work after the time has been exceeded. Annoying.
Not familiar with your Nikon, but is there an app that can control it remotely from your phone, tablet or computer? I use a CamRanger for remote wireless control with my Canons. It will work with most cameras and you can find excellent condition ones on eBay for about $200.
