At least once a week there is a post about about whether someone has the right to photograph someone else in a public place whether it is a child or an adult. Whether or not releases and permission are required. Page after page is devoted to peoples opinions(mostly wrong). Here is an excellent article which gives the legal facts. I understand that this is an international forum but this article applies to the US only. It is worth reading.

Great link!!! Well written and it MAKES SENSE!!! Folks should save this link - it won't be the last time the issue of model releases will come up.

A word of caution however. Having a Constitutional right to take a picture may not protect you from a Tiger Mom who thinks you are going to post her kids pictures on the dark web or something.
