Requests from family, when you just can't say no.
I liked the last the best but would do something about that one hair across her lips. Very good for first attempt but as Charlie157 said - watch the background. No poles coming out of the head or other distractions.
They're all nice but #2 is outstanding! However, I would crop the right side in a bit and eliminate some of that dead space.
No it wasn't cropped, we were just walking along and I turned and took a quick shot

You are fast learner. i prefer the last one. Your shoots coming up should be out of site.
She's a pretty girl. But, to me, her eyelashes are too spiky. It may be the style, today, but it makes her look as though she doesn't have real eyelashes that will catch debris and keep it from getting into the eye . But what do I know; I'm just a 69 year old matron who seldom work mascara, or any make-up for that matter.
I agree, if your granddaughter is happy with the pictures, you are done. very nice job.
I don't do portraits either. In fact, I avoid them like the plague. So this comes from someone who looks at pictures like this, not takes them. The first one is out for obvious reasons. The second one is very nice. I also like the next to last. But the last one is the real winner. Just my opinion.

My grand daughter will be a Senior this year and asked me if I would take senior pictures for her. Of course I said yes. Well...... I have never done portraits....., but I figured what the heck I'll give it a go!! These are my first shots. We will be doing some more shoots.
Lovely...both the series and your granddaughter!
5 and 6 are the most appropriate for a yearbook. They tend to go with head and shoulders. The b&w should be enlarged and framed ... or maybe printed on metal.
Beautiful young lady Lyndy, very photogenic, you will do well with her pictures.

These are all really good and I'm sure your granddaughter is delighted with them. I'm sure they are something she will always keep and remember fondly. Of all of them #2 is my favorite.
I like the second and last. The shows real warmth. But with that said. It doesn't really matter . You will know and feel when she says". Wow!!! Thank you Grand Dad.
