What mount is this lens?

I had a neighbor give me this lens from an estate sale. At first I thought it was an old manual focus Minolta lens but it would not fit my A mount Sony.

In the front it says Five Star mc Auto Macro Zoom 1:45 75-200 mm 52 and the serial number

What mount is this? On the side it says made in Japan.

Show end shot of mount (use a CPL).

I was going to say Konica K/AR, but then I noticed the "MI" imprinted on the aperture ring. That suggests it's a Minolta MD or MC mount.

Konica K/AR (or just AR) and the later Minolta MC/MD (both of which were actually further development of the original Minolta SR mount) look very similar and have close, but not quite the same dimensions.

Here's info and photos of the Minolta bayonets, incl. the different versions.

I couldn't find a good photo of a Konica AR (or K/AR) mount online. You might find an images showing the bayonet on eBay or at KEH.com..
Here's some info.

i'm not sure to be fair, i found a Tou / Five Star 75-200mm f4.5 Macro Zoom on the Pentax forums but the aperture ring appears to be reversed.

Its definitely a Minolta MD mount (The bayonet blade notch is a dead giveaway). No, it will NOT fit a Sony A mount camera, those will only fit the Minolta A mount lenses. MD was the previous generation manual focus lens mount.

I don't know the answer but I have several lens from my old film camera (Minolta Max.) and H&R told me they would fit a Sony "E" mount. I bought an E to Nikon adaptor but have never attempted to use one. This could be an E lens also.

I have a good number of both MD and MC Minolta lenses but I never see the MI so I wasn't sure.

The pictured lens appears to be a Minolta MD. It will not fit an A or E mount without an adaptor.

Country Boy - You need a Sony LA EA4 adaptor to use Maxxum lenses on an E Mount camera.

I don't remember the adaptor that I purchased but it is supposed to let me adapt the Minolta lens to my Nikon D7100. I have all the Nikon lens I need so I have never attempted to use one of them. That said, H&R told me that my Maxxum lens are compatible with a Sony E mount. They did not tell me I would need an adaptor to make it work. Thanks for the information.

I agree. You will need a MD-NEX adapter. The lens pictured is a manual only lens so you only need an inexpensive adapter. No adapter on the planet will give you Auto-Focus or aperture control on THIS lens with any camera, so don't waste your money. Focus, F-stop and focal length are controlled only on the lens.

The reason that it won't fit your A mount camera is that it was made to fit pre-auto focus Minolta cameras. They used either MC or MD designation. They were basically interchangeable, with the MD lenses having more features that could be utilized by later model Minolta cameras. The A mount was introduced with the release of the first auto - focus slr, the Minolta 7000. There is an adapter made to mount MC/MD LENSES to A mount cameras, but it is like using a low magnification Tele extender.
