This is a fact about Canon that very few people know about. It is also one of the reasons that I went with Canon many years ago, when I purchased my first F-1. Over the years I have owned eleven top Canon cameras, currently shooting the Canon 5D Mark II.

Many years ago, when I had my studio out of which I worked for many clients of all sorts, I became registered with Canon's Pro Services. One of the very significant benefits was being able to get the loan of any Canon lens for specific projects. If I needed a lens that I didn't have, Canon would ship the lens to me, I would use the lens for my shoot, then I would ship the lens back to Canon. . .no charge for this very valuable service!

This is one of the many reasons that I have been a loyal and happy Canon shooter for decades. You cannot beat their customer service and pro support.

Could you please elaborate on being "registered" with Canon Pro Services? Is there a fee for that, or ????

Depends on the level you sign up for. Free, $100/yr, and $500/yr. I am trying the free service for now, you do not get the lens service for free. You have to own certain Canon equipment to obtain points, and you have to be a professional, or Freelance like me, "FREE" Gary

The link on the Canon web site is kind of hard to find but if you keep looking you will find it. Search their site for Canon Professional Services. I just joined and got a confirmation email with a tracking number. I believe they are going to send me a package of some sort.

As state earlier in this thread, there are 3 levels. Free, $100/year, and $500/year. Each level has better bennifits. The free CPS gets you an 800 number to call 24/7 and faster turn around time on repairs. I think the $100 level gets you a 30% discount on repairs and 2 free cleanings. The $500 level gets free loaner while giving you 2 day turn around time on your repair and a couple of free cleanings. Of course the higher levels include all you get in the lower levels plus more.

From the Nikon NPS site: "*To qualify for Nikon Professional Services, in the United States, you must operate your photographic business full-time within the United States."

(Humor alert) The nerve! Allowing only professionals into a professional organization! Seems very elitist to me! :D :D
