Unidentified spider

The attached photo. is of a beautiful spider who has decided to take up residence underneath my deck. Can anyone help me identify this critter. I tried posting it on the spiderid.com site but got no response. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have always know them as a "Common Garden Spider"

that is a garden spider they are harmless although they do eat other spiders.
They are also quite photogenic

Years ago, we had one on a shade over a window. It totally wiped out a large Yellow Jacket nest.

Thanks on the information. I checked on the spider this morning and it and its web had completely disappeared. Hope it wasn't destroyed and found another location near our home.

it is not uncommon for them to move if they fail to get enough food where they were
