Nikon AF Nikkor 28-100mm 1:3.5-5.6 G

This week this lens was a topic of discussion here on the forum. Those of you who, like me, check Ken Rockwell's site whenever we are contemplating a Nikon lens purchase, will have noted that this lens is not reviewed/mentioned on Ken's site. BUT two Nikkor lenses in the same series, released at the same time, covering nearly the same focal lengths are listed and Ken rates both of them very highly. However, the majority of web reviews about this particular lens call it a real dog.
Guess I'm way too curious, I e-mailed Ken to ask why he ignored this lens on his site. Meanwhile, the OP who asked about the lens on 8-20 [https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-549243-1.html] has one on the way and has promised to "road test" it against the tried-and-true Nikon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-D and tell us about it.
Even so, an AF Nikkor selling for $30.00 was way too tempting for me to pass up. So I have one on the way as well. I'll check to see if my results are similar to those of survivaldealer (the OP) and maybe we'll see if Nikon just "blew it" with this lens from an otherwise excellent series.
Film at 11:00.

I hope he does the test (I was one of those trying to talk him into it) as I'm going to try and pick up a couple in that range, if I can beat any of you folks to one (lol)!!!!!!!

Mine was a "Buy it now", came with original box and paperwork. Be patient, grasshopper.

Advertising makes it happen. Last week it was hard to find one of these for sale on EBAY. Tonight, counting the ones being sold with camera bodies, there are 30. Lens prices run from $12.88 to $138.00. I'm amazed.
