It took a minute or two before I began to suspect a composite. The luminescent jellyfish look like they would make interesting subjects.

Rumbled! Yes it is a composite RG, but only a swap of subject, the tank into which amazed man is looking didn’t hold anything much (that I captured). The fact I could get both the tank and the man was down to the window arrangements and some reflection.
A very quick compo due to access to my computer being limited this week.

Those jellies were the best thing I saw. They were in a tank with changing light colours and a dark background. I’ll post a couple when I can get to my computer again. Thanks for commenting.

This is great fun, Dave! The first time I saw a jellyfish exhibit with colored lights (in a tank that rotated like a ferris wheel), I was amazed also!

Given the man's expression and the position of his hand, I tried quick crop and tilt. Sweet dreams

Oh yes! Like that crop Linda!

Fine job. Just to confirm that expression is in the eye of the beholder, I like your crop. The story is clearer, the greater darkness overall in the frame accents the mystery and complements the light areas, which in turn bring out the expression on the man's face, which I saw first and think is the key to your story. Finally the space to the right of the man tells the story of another person leaning in.

You hit my reasoning spot-on Bob, but having seen Linda’s crop I wondered why I hadn’t found it first. It seems to accentuate the feeling of ‘amazing’ the guy is experiencing. Unfortunately, the right hand side was a heavy crop (and a reflection) compared to the left, so there is some disparity between the two halves.
Many thanks for your thoughtful critique, as always it’s much appreciated.

Well done, nice coloring and composition. The expression in the guy is pricelesss. The looks adds to The overall effect. The only thing I would point out is the wall of the aquarium looks tilted. But not a deal breaker. But that might be in me and how I am viewing the image.

Thanks Frank. There may be a bit of tilt to wall, it was all over the place when I started and I concentrated on the right hand edge - forgot to check the wall itself!

I LOVE this photo!!! The jellyfish are lit perfectly and their outlines are beautiful. The people are silhouetted so that we concentrate on their amazement and concentration.

I wouldn't crop as much as Linda did because the woman's body, in that version, becomes a blur and her body outline disappears.

I would crop just enough for the white line to be straight up and down, as you have in your original, but in the middle of the image.

I might be seeing things, but I believe that most of what is to the right of the man is his backpack

My version, including the tilt, was just to play with a "scary movie" kind of theme.

Yes, it’s his bag - I had to remove a rather nasty reflection of the strap as it came over the front of his shoulder. I think your tilt added exactly that ‘scary movie’ feel. There are two possible shots though, just depends who’s viewing I guess. I like them both!

My first impression was not terribly favorable toward this photo. I understand that you shot the figure through glass; but there is a muddiness to the image that makes it less impactful for me. Could be that I'm missing something.

The right hand side is a reflection on dirty glass Erich - ‘muddy’ indeed. I’ve darkened the silhouette of the man a little to overcome that, but the rest I left as is. It’s not meant as a ‘quality shot’, more as a fun image. I think Linda’s crop emphasises what I was after.

Now it is clearing up! I did not realize the man was a reflection. You're right. It is a fun shot.
