A hummer by Dave. It's been a while...
The ladies at the church next door to me have been urging me to set an exhibit booth at their flea market in the fall. Every time I have photos printed and try to sell them, I end up losing money. What the heck, I'll try again.
I went into my Lightroom library and found a few that I had forgot about including this one. I'll set up a booth in October.
I like this one because it shows a hummingbird eating from a flower, not a feeder. (At least that's what it looks like.) I hid a feeding tube within the flower. You can't see it but the bird knows it's there.
I like this photo because it provides a bit of pseudo 3D depth.
A hummingbird hovering and eating.

Nice one.
Your series when you were into hummers was what started me taking pictures of them and putting up multiple feeders just to sit and watch them.

Thank you for letting me know that.
I think because of where you live, you have more types of hummers to enjoy and a bigger season. I only have one type and a limited season. This gives me all winter to plan how to take photos in the Spring.

We have 2 species year around and 3/4 others that either breed or pass through migrating. One species lives in the mountains 30 miles away in summer and come down for the winter. So I have hummers year around. I have ID'd 4 types in my backyard at one time or another and one other in the tree in front of the house. I only have decent pictures of 3 types.

Very nice shot, Dave.
Thank you kpmac.
I'm going to add two more photos here. It gives a sequence of the approach of the bird to the flower. Does anyone have a favorite out of the three.
Maybe I'll get lucky and some of the church ladies will buy all three! I doubt it.
So, does that count as baiting for photographs? Nice shots.

It's allowed as long as you don't kill and eat them. Thanks.
I have also posted these same photos on Facebook, but they look so much better when you download the UHH version. Facebook just not provide the bandwidth needed to see all the feather detail.
