I understand.

Thank you for saying that.

Well I guess it keeps them busy since they apparently don't have anything more useful to do.
And they aren't even putting out the effort to make it look real - since when do you put cloths on livestock?

Having grown up partly on my Grandparent's farm I can tell you that except for the "food factory" type operations the animals are not in cages and when they are in cages/pens at the more ethical places the cages/pens are much larger in relation to the animal size. Plus today the movement is away from cages all together. Look how often packaging says things like "free range".

Yes, some of the operators of the "food factory" operations deserve a good kick in the a$$. My Grandfather and Grandmother looked down on those types of "farmers". Their animals had shelter and fields to roam around in plus receiving care etc. When it finally came time for the food animals to become food it was done as fast and painlessly as humanly possible. You never made an animal suffer. To them making an animal suffer was a major sin.

Oh, your street photography is pretty good.

It is easy to grab onto the wrong horn of a steer.

When we present a photograph anywhere, it is sometimes difficult to divorce the image from the message within. Thus pursuit for clarification is required at times.

When I read the commentary in question, I presumed it to speak about the message in the photo rather than the presentation of the photo.

In this case, I was passing through the Square with my dog when I saw people wearing animal masks. Stopped to take pictures, them moved on. My hearing is suspect, so I didn't really make out what they were saying.

Ergo, I was presenting a series of pictures that I liked without any agenda.

I added a caption just in case viewers were curious. Probably would have been better to post the images without words.

You did well. The burden for the interpretation lies with the viewer. And as such, you will have a gamut of reaction from "I don't get it" to all sorts of responses based on how and what the viewer sees and feels.

Your captions represent your view, just as they should.

The great majority of the hoggers will give you their reaction based on the overall effect of the shot. You can be assured that it is their honest feel.

Will anyone be eating the women in the cages?

Maybe but only after about 5 hours rotating on a spit...and with an apple in their mouth

This person's churlish comment symbolizes the occasional "ugly" part of Ugly Hedgehog.

I hesitate to share an image that I enjoy because a few people seem to forget that UHH is about PHOTOGRAPHY; instead say something nasty, not related to the merits, or lack thereof, of the image.

If I had not added a caption to explain why those girls were in cages, perhaps this member would have kept his mouth shut.

If UHH were a Facebook group, such a personal attack—and his comment was personal attack—would have resulted in him being summarily kicked off.

So I ask: Are there UHH behavior standards? Are there rules against nasty or off-topic comments? Who is running this show and who decides whether or not anything goes?

Would someone please answer?

Its pretty much of an open forum, an excellent forum for photography related issues and if it gets totally out of control, the administrators can and will step in and resolve issues by eliminating the unwanted posts, abusers and possibly take other measures. However, when you post, depending on the subject, there can be snarky, rude and even comical comments, time to get use to them. As for F/B and other sites censoring, that's too much like a Big Brother approach and its censoring is becoming totally subjective and unlimited.....besides, who's the censor catering to. And as StephenG said, you will get responses based on what they see, like it or not.....Cheers, enjoy your day

As for your photos, interesting. As for the subject matter, idiotic on their part (imho).
