It's been smokey around here so I've been working on my macro technique. For me, I've found the following to be true: I like my D500 more than my D810 for macros, find shooting in bursts of 5 to 10 shots gives me a couple keepers, and find apertures above f/11 give me fairly decent dof. I'm posting four shots for comment. All shots are with a Nikon D500 fitted with a sigma 180mm, f/2.8 VC monster macro lens. All shots were hand held. The spider is a two shot hand held focus stack. Let me know what you think. I've had this lens for a year now and am just starting to get some shots I like.
All tack sharp! Well done.
1st 3 are excellent, the 4th is pretty good. are you using a flash? my flash wouldnt keep up shooting bursts
Thanks for the nice comments. I never use flash. At least not yet.

I'm onboard as well. Awesome shots, I really like the Jewel Bug.
