For those of you who wonder how we get our off shore weather reports. This is anchored and sends reports via satellite. It's solar and wind powered and reports on water temp., wave size, atmospheric pressure, etc... A very tough little unit, as it is pummeled by fairly violent storms.

Very cool. NOAA played important role during my tall ship sailing course last summer nice to see "who" was helping. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much. We'll never know how many lives they have saved. Just by people listening to their weather reports and saying "I think I'll stay on shore today." Gary

For my 4 years in the Coast Guard I performed these duties in the mid-Atalanic ocean stations which we manned aboard the high endurance cutters for a month at a time. Never saw much of the coast!

Well, I owe you a big thank you for your service. You will never know how many lives you saved by performing your service but rest assured you saved many. Gary
