Anyone had trouble with this? and a cure? Only seems to occur after I've used a Speedlight on a 30D Canon.

Thanks DWU2,had already seen this. But your reply is appreciated.
I would do a Google search on that particular camera body and see what they say or call Canon. On my 7D it was a shutter problem and Canon repaired it free under warranty.

A Canon SPEEDLITE, or another brand of what is generically referred to as a "speedlight"?
If Canon, what model? Is it an EX or an EZ?
Remove main battery.
Remove clock battery and discard
Buy replacement clock battery (Walmart, drugstores, Target...)
Remove lens. Immediately clean body contacts with a FOAM swab dampened in 100% methanol.
Cap body
Clean contacts on rear of lens (same way)
Uncap body and replace lens
Replace button cell clock battery
Replace main battery
Try again... this worked for us about half the time. Be sure camera sits for 15-20 minutes with NO batteries in it.
You will have to reset time, date, and some other menu options.
Check Canon’s web site for a firmware upgrade. It your camera isn’t up to date, installing a new version may fix corruption of the current version.
Thanks Burkphoto, done all that and camera seems ok.Am wondering if Speedlight is the problem.Cheers

Genuine Canon 580 series should be okay.
What lens are you using on this body? Some lenses have problem with ribbon cable inside the lens.
