Hi angler, i noted that you used spot metering mode on this lily image. Why? And not evaluative mode.( I<m not much of a techie.) Hey angler i didn"t know that you lived on a hippy commune in england.(just a little humor) Once again a fantastic one. I went out in my front yard today and took some sunflower images that i potted in several large containers.(4) I"ll be lucky if i get a bee on a sunflower shot. One of them is in bloom and their are 6 more buds.(same plant) very unusual!! Later I will have to use my canon 100mm macro as i used my canon 55-250mm which took some nice images, but with a macro i should get some sharper images with better bokeh. Cheers!! In england you are very lucky to have many wetlands with an abundence of birds as your bird photography is superb.

Hello again Redfordl and to be honest we're all very old hippys in our commune and the only thing we puff these days are our asthma inahalers
With your question about using spot mode when using my macro lens with this photo, well i sometimes have to imrovise and with this partcular photo instead of getting close to the flower with the macro lens i backed off a little distance otherwise the photo would have have been blurred so the further i backed away from the subject the more of the subject came into focus. It's trial and error sometimes so give it a go and take several photos of your subject at different distances and see which one your happy with. Then go for it then when you're happy crop the finished photo to your liking. Also i use the fastest shutter speed i can use depending on the lighting conditions
