Beautiful Sue. Kind of eerie. Do you know what that piece of blue cloth tied to the little branch in the middle of the shot is for? It caught my eye in the double-download.

I'm not sure about the blue cloth - the woods are next to a rather overgrown lane which is usually gated shut. I was, ahemmm, trespassing with my camera.

This is beautiful. I have a lot of forest pictures. I am going to have to figure out how to give them this kind of coloration. I think it is really nice.

Thanks! I just bought a package of presets from photoserge.com - this is one of the first images I played around with.

Wonderful use of the light, Sue! Is the purple ribbon a marker for tree removal?

I don't know about the ribbon - it's been there for a long time. I probably should take it out - I'm thinking of submitting this image for possible inclusion in our insurance agent's annual calendar.

If the agent is smart, it will be included.

I like the shot. Now, if you please, How do you keep the light areas in a photo such as this from being blown out. I have tried this sort of shot with strong contrast between the light areas and the shade. I think none of mine hold the balance that you have achieved. Do you do it as you compose the shot or in pp? Or both? Sorry if my question is out of order in this post, but your success really prompted my asking.

I recently bought a package of Lightroom presets from Photoserge and used one of them to add warmth to the image. Here is the original picture before pp. Hope that helps.
