Makes me think I left my glasses in the other room. I think this would be more effective, and would achieve what you were going for, if you did the effect in a seperate layer and blended with the original.
The Orton effect results in a bit of a hazy look. Some like it and some don't.

Thanks. You can find the steps to the effect online if you would like to try it yourself. Best for landscapes and other scenery.

Venice can provide some get photo shots, except now it's OVERRUN with tourists.
I've read that the Venetians are increasingly moving out.
Experiment.
Although the idea may not be as new, as it might look to someone?
We still have some - either soft or out of focus photographs from about 1900 - probably influenced by painters who were trying to capture the shimmering atmospheric air with small primary color dots done on canvas and relying on the viewer's eye - to put dots together in order to feel the overall impression.
I have no problem with experimenting in 2018, but I do prefer a sharp, crisp image, showing as much detail as possible.
A photograph as an ART is an idea communicated by light - from feeling to meaning.

Just noted that viewing full-size reduces the haze.

Maybe my eyes are at fault but seems blurry to me, or is pic supposed to be just that way.

Here is an extract of a concise description of the Orton Effect: "...the core concept remains the same: create a dreamlike glow to an image."
