Where, exactly, will you be visiting?
I was there in 2011, visiting Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, and Rio De Janeiro. I felt very safe in Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls, but very uneasy in Rio. We were advised to be very cautious there and, the organizers of the conference I was attending were held up at knife-point on the Copacabana beach. We took a guided jeep tour of the Tijuca Rainforest and noted that there were armed soldiers guarding all the overlooks in the park.
I'd take something small and "expendable" for the Brazil portion of the trip and a limited setup for the rest of the trip. Try to blend in and not look like a tourist while you are traveling.
Thanks for the info.
I haven't received the full itinerary yet. Nut i think we will be visiting most popular tourist places.
We are part of a tour of 14 people. Most of the time we are going to be with the tour. I am working on taking a mirrorless or Nikon D610 which is less expensive.
Thanks again for the info
