compatability question...

hello,i wonder if anyone can tell me if the vivitar 2500 zoom thyristor flash is ok to use on Nikon dslr cameras, specifically the d5000,i would not want to fry the electronics in it,the d5000 according to the manual will take voltages up to but not exceeding 250v,since the vivitars output is between 10.5 and 14v i assume it is safe(although i haven't checked the polarity)
can anyone enlighten me (sorry bad pun) on the subject??? i would appreciate it,and although i am not a fan of flash,it probably wouldn't hurt to have this in my bag......thanks

Proceed with caution. If you have a meter, you might try to measure it yourself.
