And this, Gentlemen, (I'm pointing to you diehard SOOC jpeggers) is why you shoot in raw format and post process images!

Even though this was addressed only to men, I took a look. I hope you don’t mind.

(edit) So, Ma'am, what did you think of the article?

While PP is important one should strive for SOOC results by paying careful attention and keeping the "I'm shooting color slide film so only have one chance to get it right." mentality. It doesn't matter if you are shooting RAW or JPG. Adhering to the SOOC mentality will assure you spend less time and effort in PP.

While a RAW image contains more information, I am usually able to obtain what I want using only JPG images.

Sorry, but I do not feel like a die hard anything.

Best efforts SOOC is critical for maximized PP results. No conflict there, but the use of light (or any other element) in PP as demonstrated by MattK in this tutorial is so greatly enhanced shooting raw that it's not even a consideration to shoot in jpeg (unless for job requirements). I fully understand that most don't care or even understand if their image production quality is maximized......just a fact of life.

I’m only a diehard RAW shooter. I appreciated the article.

Apology accepted, sir.

I sprung for the course this morning while still on sale. If I got it right, it will be mostly about using the Brush, Radial Filter and Graduated Filter tools. Those are fun and I like to get better at using them.

One of the things I like is that Matt's courses are downloaded to you computer. You can watch them without an internet connection like when flying or, even, camping.

Post processing takes the image out of the hands of the photographer and puts it in the hands of a computer whiz. Like everything else it has it's purpose. I still prefer sooc.

Dan,

Don't look too closely at how your "camera" works. If you are getting SOOC images from it, you are a "computer whiz".

I agree with you 100%, however, a paint brush in the hands of an artist does not make the brush the artist, just the tool.

Whatever floats your boat.
