The best think to do is to go to your local camera store and play with your choices. I have a Sony a99ii, a7s, and an a6000. I have a long time friend that is a professional RealEstate photographer and he just switched from Nikon gear to the Sony a6500. Choseing between the a6500 and a7iii ( you do mean the a7iii vs the a7ii) would be a tough decision. The a6500 is a bit smaller and lighter. The APS-C lenses are a bit less expensive. The a7iii is full frame and a bit newer technology. Tough choice. Happy Shooting

Welcome mhdt64. I am to a Sony camera person. I have both Sony a77m2 and the big brother a99m2. Also a Sony RX10M4. The M4 is a fixed mirrorless camera with a 24-600mm lens. Great low light photos and the a99m is a full frame also great in low light but uses full frame lenses A mount only. The 77m2 is a semi three quarther frame camera which uses the A mount APS-C lenses which means that it will reproduce a photo three quarters focal size and quality over a full frame camera. The Full Frame lenses will work in the a77m2 but the cost of the lens is twice as much as a regular APS-C lens along with the f stop rating is higher than the full frame. My a99m2 50m2 full frame lens has an f stop of 1.6 and the a77m2 50mm lens f stop 2.8 which is not that much but it is a fast focus lenses prime. These are the things you have to think about when you are buying a camera. This is why l would have started out with the Sony RX10M4. No lenses to buy. A camera to learn from a once you are sure and happy then you can invest into more equipment if you want too. Wish somebody would have given me this kind of advise when l first started out. Have fun and enjoy taking photos. God bless.

I have looked into the Sony RX10M4 and it sounds very interesting given its simplicity. Anyone know if there is a similar new model coming out soon? Since I am several months away from my trip I can wait before I buy to get the latest model if it's worth it.
I have this camera as my backup to my Sony a99m2. Wife loves hers too. My advise call B&H Photo talk with them in the pro proto department. They will answer all your questions regarding this camera. Good Luck. Send me a private email let me know how you enjoy the camera. There is also a book that is released by Friedman. 600 pages thick tells you everything you need to know about this camera. Get it it is worth it. Sells for around $60.00. It is the bible for the camera. I have it for all my cameras. He talks about the settings and what they do and his advise on how to use them. He is a professional camera person for over 45 years and has taken many photos and written many camera books. Have fun taking photos.

I also would leave the SD card in the camera and remove it when card is full and insert empty one, then transfer full one to computer and return card to camera bag which would travel with camera.
