Denali from the other side. they say that we are in the 30% club. Seeing Denali clearly from both sides.
Nice shot. Curious thing about this Denali "club" thing. I have heard of the 30% club. I have heard of the 10% club. Definitions for each seem to be many and varied. There is your definition: seeing the mountain "clearly" from both sides. There is seeing the mountain peak unobstructed by clouds = 30%. There is "seeing the mountain", no caveats = 30%. Then there is seeing the mountain from base to peak without any clouds obscuring any part of the massif obscured. I know my hat says 30% club. I got it at the Wilderness Lodge after seeing the mountain from base-to-peak from both sides. While wearing it, some Denali Park worker asked how much I saw. He then told me that I was actually in the 10% club. Whatever! As long as I don't have to pay dues or attend meetings.
The story we were told was if you got to see Denali from both sides, that put you in the 30% club. That 70% of those visitors do not get both sides.
We had great weather at the right times on this trip.
