The Story:
I was going to give you, the reader, the story and it occurred to me that I'd rather hear yours. Mine is sad.

The grave of a very young boy.

Old cemeteries have many very sad tombstones. I don't know how parents back then were able to stand it. Did they not get so attached to their children? So many young children died. And mothers in childbirth, too.

I have visited some very old cemeteries and was amazed at how many people died at a really young age, many of them at birth.

I've been to old cemeteries where there are 5 or 6 little headstones in a row, all of siblings who died in infancy or early childhood. We may romantically dream of "days gone by" but the reality is much less appealing.

This post was moved to a different forum and is now back in the Critique forum. My intention for creating this image was to create a story. I would like to know if a story was formed in your mind as you looked at it (1 picture worth 1000 words sort of thing). Beyond that, I would like any other comments as well. The four previous posts did not even mention the image.

The grave reminded me of the old cemetery way out in the country with all my uncles and aunts buried marked by barely legible tombstones. Yes the old fiddler fits right in. A great picture and very fitting. Beautiful and sad. In the first 300 years of this country millions of children in marked and unmarked graves.

Here is a clarification … I wanted to hear the story that the image evoked; what's the image story for you?
This is my image story ...
Their son, Samuel Burdette Phifer Jr. died at less than one year old and his parents set up a fund to pay for music to be played at their son's grave on his birthday for as long as the money in the fund would allow.

Have you read the rules of this section? It is not about the interpretation of an image. It is about a finished image being presented as a best effort for critique. One image per thread without exceptions. This section, unfortunately, should be removed because it has turned into a circus of people looking for atta boys. Sad. Critiques are used to help the presenter gain knowledge so he/she can improve in all aspects of photography. The absent moderators have done an injustice to UHH and its members.

First, I am not looking for atta boys. If I wanted atta boys I would have posted this in the Post Processing forum (in fact I may have a while back) I am looking for something more here. I created the image to evoke a story and wanted to know if I succeeded. As for the one image per thread - I probably should not have posted the two individual photos that went in to creating the image. I recently posted 3 other images in this forum and I didn't think there was a problem … until now. I felt this was the best forum to get the information I was looking for. If there is a more proper forum, let me know.

Click on ALL SECTIONS from the HOME menu and read the headings. There are probably several that fit your needs. You can title an image for critique but you should never attempt to explain or lead the viewers or critiquers. Critiquers should express only what they consider determents or merits of an image and seldom praise.
