I will eventually try this lens combo out for deep sky stuff. So far I'm happy with the results while testing it out in my back yard. Taken w/ a D750 mounted on a tripod.

Quite impressive, but I do wish you allowed us to see the original and EXIF. Also, can you identify the 2X teleconverter that you used?
I just received my new G2 this week, haven't had much of a chance to try it out due to the weather.

Were you able to auto focus? I have the 150-600 G2 also and tried the 1.4 converter......will not auto focus.

I have done some edits in LR. I can process the RAW with camera settings and reupload the full photos for you. I'll get around to it.

No, the autofocus would hunt quite a bit. It locked a couple times but I didn't bother with it much. I had read on forums about this issue before I bought the tele so I was not surprised.
With no tele I was able to continuously focus on flying eagles. It performed better than I expected.
