Make a feeder like I did. Take a 10' long 5"X5" hunk of wood. Embed it in concrete. Attach 4 arms for feeders near top (which will be about 6 1/2 feet off the ground) I used floral basket type arms on each side of 5X5. Finish by adding a strip of sheet metal (about 2-3' wide) around the lower part of the pole, about 1 1/2 feet off the ground. Top it with a bit of sheet metal. Use silicone spray on the sheet metal. They can't climb this thing because the sheet metal is slippery with the silicone and it is higher than they can jump. I've not had one squirrel steal my birdseed since I put it up. I even had a raccoon try to get up. When he hit the sheet metal he slid down, looked around, ran off. He never tried again. Now my birds eat in peace. I don't have any trees near the feeder and the house roof is too far to jump from.
