But thatâÂÂs not what a wristwatch is for. ItâÂÂs for keeping an eye on the time - âÂÂWeâÂÂre running a bit late, letâÂÂs get a move onâÂÂ. Anybody remember the original Bulova Accutron? One of the first battery powered watches. It had a vibrating tuning fork, and the mechanism counted the vibrations, converting that to time. Incredibly accurate compared to contemporary watches. You can still buy them used.
Thanks Rocar. I totally forgot about my dad's watch that I inherited in 2007 and needs to be fixed! It's an 18K gold Bulova Accutron Astronaut watch (which I didn't realize it was 18K until years later when I did some research on the internet and found these are collector's items and then looked closely at the back of the watch and saw the 18K). I found 2 people specializing in fixing these watches on the internet and been meaning to contact one of them and put watch back into drawer and forgot about it until now. I just contacted one of the repairmen today- thanks to your post. It will mean so much to me to wear a watch that belonged to my dad and a conversation piece as well. Unlike the younger generation, I'd rather wear a watch vs having my face buried in a smart phone and no watch.
