Whats in the Water?

Since the beginning, I periodically go out to specifically shoot water. Im always enchanted with what is in there that your eye would never see. Yesterday I had gone out early, to look for some birds, and found a number of osprey, several in a nest, and two in distant trees. I waited for a long time for the far away ones to fly back to the nest, under which I was standing. I waited. They stayed put. So I backed away from the pole and took some shots of the guy peaking over the edge at me. Then the far one landed in the nest. I missed my chance. I took a couple more before I left of the other far bird before leaving, with about two stops under exposure dialed in, so he wouldn't be blown out in the dark tree. On the way home I decided to swing over to the Saugatuck river, where I have been many times to see what the water had to offer. It was too early really. Most of the water was just dark, but I did stop and take a few where there was a little light. When I looked at them at home most of them were black. Like I had taken pictures of my lens cap. I had forgotten I left the camera two stops under. I started pitching them in the trash. Then I thought, hang on here, Lets see what I can get from the raw. Well of course they were well within recovery. So these are some of those black water shots. I will add, my eyes are no longer good enough to focus manually, and the only thing the af would catch, were some water bugs. That wasn't working out too well so I went to manual focus and crossed my fingers. With the f stop at 10 and the iso at 1000 I took these at 1/640 sec. I certainly don't consider these to be my best water shots, but I do like them. Hope some of you do also.

Very nice water work! I have to agree with Dean. #2 has a quality that puts it in the star position in this set.

I agree about 2. I should have just cropped the bottom left quadrant of 1. It’s truely weird even for water.
