Glad I was able to bring back some fond memories for you. I was able to take the Helicopter ride over Glacier park about 5 yrs ago...what a treat that was! I thought I had seen a lot of this country on my horse...but not after seeing it from the air!

What was amazing about the Helicopter ride was as we approached the crest of the glacier, the pilot held an elevation roughly 50 feet above the surface and very slowly edged the bird to the edge and hovered there for a minute or so. It appeared as if a rock was dropped it would take a very, very long time for it to reach the bottom. Being in a Bell 47 with a bubble canopy one can look straight down and see the ground, or lack of in this case. I hope to visit your beautiful state again in the near future after a visit to the Grand Canyon.

I am envious, but not about the smoke. Been to Glacier twice, first time was the last day of the season GTTS road was open, second time it was closed, but had planned going to Pole Bridge and the lake nearest there anyway, which we did. Beautiful photography, love the snow/ice scene of Lake McDonald. Excellent photos.

That's the type of helicopter I was in as well...and I got to sit in the front seat and look straight down..it was AWESOME!! We got to see a sow grizzly with 2 cubs walking on the edge of one of the glaciers....it was amazing! Friends took my hubby and I for my 50th birthday present...still my favorite birthday present!

Thanks...it's hard to not take a good picture around here! Smoke is really bad here right now and Going to the Sun road is now closed on the west side - fire at Lake McDonald that has now burned a lot of the old structures at the north end...sad!
