Glad to hear you are starting to feel better. I hope all will be better for you in the future. I have also spent time in "the chair".Good luck.

Thank you Traderjohn. I had to think just a minute what you meant by "the chair." I'll turn 79 this month. Every day is a gift. My wife is almost as old as I am but to me, she is more beautiful now than she was in High School. Maybe I should not have mentioned my cancer. I'm celebrating my ability to get out and do what I enjoy doing.

Thanks to all for your well wishes.

So nice to have a peaceful slice of nature to enjoy, especially after such an illness!

Good Morning;
A new day is dawning...
What I find amazing are that your subject matters all seem to be so small and personal, as compared to what images one MIGHT have taken on a hike. Wondering if the subjects might have been different if you hadn't had to make that journey. But that's what life's about.... The journey.
Stay strong and keep the faith.

BTW: I like the fungus photos.. To me it shows the "blooming of a beautiful life form, from an old decaying tree trunk.."

I cut a trail in the woods on my own property over a mile long. I enjoy hiking it a bringing friends to hike it with me. In the worst periods after the chemo treatments, I would be laying in bed too sick to do anything. During those recent days, I would dream of being able to hike my trail. I'm slowly recovering and today my wife agreed to accompany while I hike the trail with my camera. One never know what one might encounter on the trail. It might be deer, turkeys, or a farmers lost cow. There is always interesting flowers and fungi on rotting trees.

Today I used two lenses;
1) I took my old inexpensive everything lens a Minolta 28-135mm f/4-4.5 w/macro mode.
2) I also took my 100mm f/2.8 lens.

I used both lenses. I look forward to returning to the trail with my camera and doing better than I did today.

Be sure to download the spiderweb and magnify to see the dew drops. That was taken with the 100mm Macro f/2.8 lens. I was not sure that I captured it until I came back to the house and processed it. I think that's my favorite.

There is a sweet old man pushing 90 years old, who has hiked the trail with me. He is a self made multimillionaire. He keeps the local camera club afloat with secret donations to the treasury. He has had some heart problems and his hands shake. After he first hiked my trail he laughed and said, "You have made your own little piece of paradise here!" He is going to join me in another hike next week.

My trail is mostly under dense hardwood trees. There are not many vistas available unless I jump a farm fence and visit my neighbors farm property. The neighbors have granted me permission to walk their beautiful pastures anytime I like.

My favorite place on my trail is a giant fallen oak tree that is slowly rotting away. It always provides me with beautiful new life forms if I'm patient enough to find them.

Thanks. That was just dumb luck on my part. It really did not become visible until I got home and post processed it. I was shocked when I saw all those little round drops of dew.

BTW, I have an assignment today. The church ladies from the church next door called me up last night and asked me to photograph a quilt.
I'm bringing two wide angle lenses.

Yes, pokeweed, which is pretty and poisonous.

Poisonous if eaten without proper preparation. Down South, we call it poke salad (or sallet). Remember Tony Joe White’s song “Poke Salad Annie? As child we would pluck the smaller leaves as we strode the country roads and take them home to Mom who would boil them for a while to extract the poisonous elements, pour the dark liquid off, rinse, and then cook them like turnip greens or mustard greens. Many people like them with their black eye peas and cornbread.

Country life is not limited to the South. I remember my Dad, cooking Poke, Black eyed peas. If we were lucky they were served as a side on Groundhog.
Now you went and got me hungry for Back eyed peas with a lot of salt.

This is in the part of Pennsylvania that borders West Virginia.

Your journey is a familiar one to many; courage and perseverance, my friend, of which you have in abundance, are the key to a chronic disease. May you continue walking your path for a good long time. And your images are so restful!
