Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) on the hunt!
W. Kentucky, USA - 8/06/2018
1/200 sec - f/8.0 - ISO 1600

Interesting Tidbit: According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, “Great Blue Herons
have specialized feathers on their chest that continually grow and fray. The herons
comb this “powder down” with a fringed claw on their middle toes, using the down
like a washcloth to remove fish slime and other oils from their feathers as they preen.
Applying the powder to their underparts protects their feathers against the slime
and oils of swamps.” ~Nature For My Soul~

The hands and joint position in your photo are from a horror movie! As Jerry said "weird." Opposite from our knees bending forward. These birds are common here in Florida and respected... living around the clutter of humankind. Common is the stopping of traffic as they walk to the median and stop three more lanes of traffic. They have family values and mom and dad typically escort the child.

Your photo is clear and crisp and shows "the-story" of where and what the murky water/environment is like. Colors excellently balanced.

No tide, it's a fresh-water wetland slough near the TN River. It's been dry this summer and the water is low.
