Some of my favorite subjects in our small town of 23,000 people has always been some of the old buildings downtown. On July 19, we had an F3 tornado come thru town and it went straight thru the main street from one end of town to the other. At 900 feet wide, it took out all of the downtown area including the spire on top of the county courthouse. Some of you may have seen footage of it being blown off on the national news. In addition, 89 homes are a total loss and many others with major damage. The homes destroyed and damaged are in the poorest section of town and many had no insurance. Also, 3 of the biggest employers in town were also heavily damaged and those workers are out of work, many of whom had their homes destroyed. I don't have any photos of the homes, either before or after but I have some of the businesses before, so today I went out and tried to recreate some of those as after photos and thought I'd post some here. No one was killed but everyone in town has been affected in some way.

Sorry for the loss of your town. You have documented well some of the damage that a tornado can do.
Prayers for the families. I had a friend go through this several years ago and she has not been the same.
A great documentary of your town. Sorry for the damages it has incurred. You do have some wonderful old buildings. Mahalo for sharing.
