I have a Canon EOS mount and want an all purpose lens. These are my criteria: Focal length from 10 to say 700mm, fixed aperture of 1.8 or better yet 1.4, autofocus, image stabilization, weight not more than 5 ounces, price not more than $300. What do you suggest ??

Go back to bed and see if you can "catch" that dream again. I used to be able to do that when I was a kid - not so much as an adult. And if I remember correctly the dreams did not include cameras or photography.

Yup! go back to bed you might find such a lens for less than $3 instead of $300. If that doesn't work I have one to sell for $299. Please send cash then I will send you the lens. By the way which brand do you want?

Nothing, because a lens like that does not exist, but dream on!

Why would you want a lens with only one aperture choice? Fixed means only one aperture, like most mirror lenses or a Portragon. Iā€™d rather have a constant aperture lens where the maximum aperture stays the same no matter what focal length I choose.
Keeps those dreams coming!

Find another hobby - your expectations far exceed any reality that I am aware of.

No problem! Send me the $300, and I'll send you a lens that will meet at least one of those criteria.
