Hi everyone — please help with a Lightroom slideshow problem

Hi

I'm an amateur photog shooting Nikon gear with a D800e body and some decent glass. Like to shoot family, people portraits but mostly landscape and the occasional street stuff. I am busy putting together a slideshow for my mom's 90th and have run into a snag with Lightroom's 'Slideshow' module. I'm using the latest version of Lightroom Classic CC.

Here's the issue ... the audio stops in slideshow when video plays and does not resume. I am on a Mac running OS 10.12.16 with LR CC classic 7.4. I have playback set to music on audio balance and fairly low pan and zoom. The video file is an mp4 (tried with .mov file but also nada) 4MB.

I am running the slideshow in both preview and play mode, the show runs perfectly with all the transitions, pan and zoom plus the selected music track BUT as soon as the show hits the video the music stops and does not resume after the video finishes and the still images resume.

I've searched this forum and the web but do not find an answer. Kinda desperate as the event is coming up very soon. Any ideas?

Thanx.

Not familiar with LR's slideshow however I can fully recommend ProShow Gold for a slideshow with music. Easy to use, will burn to BluRay if your computer is so equipped for stunning pictures on a large screen TV.

I use Pro Show Gold. Easy to learn and does an excellent job. Several file and media output options.

thanx for the reco, ak. I’ll look into it although I’m not keen on buying another program.

Hi br br I'm an amateur photog shooting Nikon gea... (show quote)

ProShow is just about a standard in the industry and it works without issues, and is easy to learn. If this is a one-off thing, you can download a full working version and try it for a short time for free. If you find yourself needing it more often, it's worth every penny.

I did this with about 15 mins with the program, never having used it before:

I tried LR's slideshow and was not at all happy with it. ProShow is way better.

Make separate slideshow videos for stills, then merge the slideshow videos and other video with Quicktime or your favorite video editor.

For even better quality, just produce the slideshow video without audio, then add the audio track in a video editor and bring down the volume for the videos and back up for the slideshow stills.

Not familiar with light room slide show. Since Adobe Elements comes with Adobe Premier I use Adobe premier. I am professionally trained in Avid movie making so the jump down to Adobe Premier was simple. I make all of my slide shows as movies using still shots. Once down I make the movie into a jpeg movie file and then it can be viewed on all devices that will read the jpeg movie. Many more adjustments can be made in making a movie and if the soundtrack is not what I want I put the jpeg movie into my Pro-tools and make audio adjustments to the audio track. I get better results this way than doing slide shows as slide shows. If I want a slide show I still have my Kodak projectors for that.

ProShow Gold is Windows, but works well using a virtual machine windows emulator.

ProShow Web works on Mac and Windows.
