I upgraded from a Canon T2i to a 5D mark III. There is one feature on the T2i that I guess I expected on the 5D, but can't find it. When shooting on the T2i, when you put your eye up to the viewfinder, the LCD screen would go black. This was particularly important when shooting at night so that you wouldn't be blinded by the screen while trying to view. On the 5D, I haven't found that feature mentioned or active. I can press the INFO button to turn off the LCD, but there isn't an auto sensor or anything that I'm aware of.
Do any of you know something I've missed?
Press the shutter button, or the assigned button for focus, and half press. The LCD will go black. Also, in the camera's menu, set the image playback duration to 4 (or 2 seconds)
No your not missing anything; the 5DIII does not have that feature. It can be set to display for, I think, 1-5 seconds or until you start to depress the shutter to focus again - depending what you choose in the setting's. I keep mine set to 3 seconds and it's never bothered me. You can set it up for auto brightness and various other tweaks and I think you can set it up not to display at all unless you press the playback button or setting's button. You should be very happy about the new camera as it is a big step up from the T2i.

Thank you both for your comments. Yes, I am already really glad to be using the 5D. I got a lot out of the T2i, but was also limited from many things. New body, new and better glass, a world of difference, but also a lot more to learn.
There are a few more bells and whistles but the functions are much the same. It's the way you access menu's and the different ways you can setup buttons that will take a little time. Have fun and hope to see some photo's from your new equipment.

Thanks, Daniel. I'll definitely post some as I feel I'm getting something worth viewing.
