LOL... Sylvia, we were shocked when we spotted him... and poor David almost jumped out of his shoes since he was in the bio falls we were cleaning!! Glad you liked these!!

We have a large rockery in the garden not far from our pond and the frogs seem to enjoy time in there. Whenever Bob is weeding in there and a frog appears, he jumps about six foot in the air!!

Every year we buy 3-5 tadpoles in hopes of watching them grow... which we never do and don't see them again until one magically appears in the bio falls of the pond!! This guy was huge, so he must have been one of our originals and very old!!! Strange markings on him as well!!

I was just recently told by a man that raises koi that said if you see dragon flies over your pond, you water is perfect and is seems ours is... finally seeing dragons in the garden and hovering over the water!

We were doing a water change and my eye was drawn to the rock not fully underwater in the last shot!!

Not the best shots, a lot of grain.... taken with the sx50.

Thank you kindly, Donna.... we are enjoying it so much more since we pulled back the netting... and now have fishing line going across in all directions so the birds won't bother the koi!!

Nicely done, Angela. A departure from your usual genre.

Glad you see your frogs and dragons again. There was a time 30 years ago a step out the door at night would greet me with a thousand frogs serenading. Tadpoles were teeming in the shallow waters trickling through my yard and even crawdads were burrowing in the sand. All gone now. Our part has been dry for decades except for dangerous flash floods that go as swiftly as they came.
Sorry for reminiscing, but I feel we lost something precious.

Janos, it must have been wonderful seeing and hearing those critters and how sadly things change.... but you at least have experienced them, this new generation gets to miss out on all the wonder that once was!! I know when we first bought our house and coming from the city, I was amazed to see toads jumping all over the lawn when we mowed the grass.... so much so, we kept two as pets and I would go to the pet store to buy them crickets to eat... my kids loved them. Now you don't see them anymore... so spotting this big daddy of a frog was very exciting!!!
