Windows 10, Elements 15 and my Wacom Bamboo tablet

Elements and the tablet worked together just fine with my old system running Win 7. Then back in April the system went south and I ended up getting a new one, an Acer with more RAM and running Windows 10. I installed all my old software and the tablet without a hitch, but didn't actually have an occasion to use Elements 15 (long story & nothing to post-process) until yesterday. I had a bunch of old family photos to touch up before sending them to Collage.com for a project we want to have done by them.

That's when I discovered that my Bamboo tablet wasn't working right; I selected the healing brush tool, intending to use it on a scratch mark. As soon as I touched the pen tip to the tablet, instead of the brush doing its work, a white circle appeared where the tip was touching, followed immediately by the drop-down brush selection menu. Moving the pen tip slightly and touching a different spot would make the menu go away, but when I tried again to do what I started out to do the exact same thing happened.

It didn't matter where you put the pen; touching the tablet screen anywhere just called up a menu, nothing else. It wasn't just the healing brush, either; I had the same thing happen with the regular brush tool as well. Any tool that could be used with a tablet pen would simply produce that menu and not a single stroke of work could get done.

I did a by-the-book uninstall / reinstall of both the tablet and Elements 15; no change. So I hit Google and from there to Youtube, where I found that I had lots of company: Wacom has an ongoing problem of various kinds of bizarre behavior of its tablets with Windows 10. And there was a solution!

I followed the directions and went into advanced properties in the pen part of the Bamboo preference tab. Once there I just unchecked "Use Windows Ink" and clicked OK. Then I re-started Elements 15, loaded the photo I'd previously tried to work on, selected the healing brush, touched tablet pen to screen and neatly removed that pesky scratch mark. I'm pleased to report that my tablet works nice and normal now. This is the link to where I got my information on this fix:
