And by the way. I did not insult your education. In Shogun there is a scene where Omi San pays back Blackthorne's insult. Feel anything warm on your back?

Never saw it. As for anything warm on my back; I'm currently sitting on a leather sofa and the AC is off so yes, I feel something warm on my back. 8>)

You would need to see the scene. Good night, Sir. Bill

Here's the issue with your statement.
You don't like someone "religious" espousing their dogma where you can hear it or read it yet by espousing your own dogma (Your own being that you don't like it when others espouse their dogma in an effort to get others to do something) where others can read it or hear it you've done the exact same thing!
The ONLY logical way to deal with your dislike of others espousing their dogma is you not saying anything at all. Once you say something you are doing what you say you don't want people to do.
Whoops.
Be that as it may...the 1st amendment is a guarantee of free speech and the entire reason that free speech is guaranteed is because some folks won't like what's being said. Personally, I don't want the government in messing in anything at all, let alone what they already DO mess with. Their job is to keep citizens safe, not stop your delicate ears from hearing something it doesn't like.

I agree with the legal side. Just why do believers have to insist I am wrong? I do not insist they are wrong. There is an infinite chance there is a god. I bow to that.Maybe a little discretion would help some people.
Probably because you insist upon using the cold steel bayonet of the state to silence them.

Why?
Because they love you and don’t want to see you in Hell. It’s that simple.
Analogy: You see a blind man shuffling towards a 100 foot cliff, not realizing the danger...what do you do?
1.) Respect his right to do what he wants and keep silent.
2.) Run to him, grab him by the coat and warn him of the danger that he’s in if he keeps on the present course.
Of course you’d try and stop him! That would be the loving thing to do.
What if he disagreed with you about the danger and wanted to continue? Would you just say “I guess we disagree, you keep doing what makes you happy.”
Of course not, you’d try again! You plead with him, you’d try and convince him of the danger he’s in.
Now you know the motivation that Christians have when they talk to you about your current condition and the future consequences.
Christians know you don’t agree and don’t like it, but they know that your current comfort or happiness isn’t the issue so they open their mouth to warn you, they take ridicule and scorn gladly so that you get the message.
PS: I wasn’t Christian until I was 45 years old so I’ve been on both sides of this for a number of years, I know exactly how you feel, but I’m thankful that those Christians that took my abuse never backed off and that God saved this filthy wretch of a man.

Actually that's Catholic doctrine (which I don't ascribe to) My sins have been propitiated. (I'm surprised someone else was familiar with that word)
Thanks all for your responses. Sincere apologies to all(looks like everyone) I have offended.this is a touchy and very personal subject, as has been shown. The day religeous beliefs are legislated, I move to Mexico. I see this is now in the attic. May it requiescat in pace.
This statement is just one of the many reasons I dislike TV evangelist and most religious teachings.

The t***h is there is no "Hell" the Bible - it is a fictitious place that has been started way back in history and has been built on more and more till today it is considered by so many to be fact rather than fiction same goes for "Heaven" & the Devil/Satin". The real study of the Bible and specific items in it will show how man has taken them and expanded them waaaaaaaaaayy out of the original text.

Why is there not a government organization to vet religious shows on TV? Sort of like the FDA. You cannot sell food and drugs under false pretenses. Belief is not enough proof of the usefulness of the wh**ever. SO. I propose that before preaching, you must substantiate your beliefs. Simple. End of productive arguement. Any LLD out there listening, your floor.
Can’t help you if you don’t understand the difference between words (preaching) and actions (selling food and drugs).

OK-Mr Bull crap prove me wrong - show me in an older bible - not one of these revised ones where it describes Hell, Heaven and the Devil as it is "Preached today" - "They - the words are not there" go as I did and research the subjects you will find all subjects quite interesting.

There is definitely the freedom of religion thing. I wouldn't want the government policing their beliefs, but policing for s**ms wouldn't bother me. By s**ms, I don't mean believing different than I do. If someone is getting rich fleecing old ladies out of theit savings I think they at least have a right to know.

An older bible?
Revised ones?
What in the world are you talking about?
Why do you think that an "older bible" should be the arbiter of what God has said? do you mean an older non-biblical text? Do you mean earlier texts of the bible?
Do you mean the original Greek or Hebrew texts?
I can tell you that what's preached (that I have heard) is faithful to the text.
I have no idea what you are getting at though I'm very familiar with the t***smission of the text of Scripture and it's history...but you aren't being clear as to what you think is not correct. Be specific.
