Hi John. I'm sure you can find much more info on the internet, but these were converted from old luxury cars back in the '30s and then operated on narrow gauge rails. Apparently they were not very stable and waddled back and forth, hence the name Galloping Goose. I think there were seven of them built, four are in the Colorado Railroad Museum, and the other three are scattered around the country.

Thanks for checking in Pat. The Colorado Railroad Museum is a fantastic place to visit for any rail fan. It's located in Golden, near Denver.
