Let's play Carnac the Magnificent tonight

---------------------------------------Carnac The Magnificent---------------------------------------------

Ed McMahon: It is time now, ladies and gentlemen, for a visit from that famous mystic of the East.
The all-knowing, all-seeing, all-telling, all-omniscient, famous seer, sage, soothsayer, and former
caddy to Tiger Woods…Carnac The Magnificent.

I hold in my hand the envelope. As a child of four can plainly see, this envelope has been hermetically sealed.
It’s been kept in a mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnalls' porch since noon today. No one knows the contents
of this envelope – but you, in your mystical and borderline divine way, will ascertain the answers having
never before heard the questions.

Carnac: The envelope, please. (Carnac holds the envelope to his forehead to “divine” it
but seems to be having some difficulty coming up with the answer.)

Ed McMahon: (mockingly) “Having trouble divining this one?”

Carnac: (Looking at Ed) “May your sister be voted the girl most likely to leave an indentation in the sand.”

Carnac again, holds the envelope to his forehead, “divines” it, and gives

THE ANSWER: “builds castles in the sky, lives in them, and collects the rent”

Carnac opens the envelop and reads

THE QUESTION: “What does a neurotic, a psychotic, and a psychiatrist do to relieve their stress and anxiety.”

(To all people with mental illness and their families, no offense intended.)

Yes, indeed, Carnac was Magnificent and Johnny Carson, nonpareil.

Those were better days than any of the so-called entertainment that’s on any of the late night shows today.

After Jay Leno retired from late night TV, I stopped watching those not-very-funny inhabitants of the channels after the 11:00 News.

Carnac and other skits were great, as were his interviews. He also had new comedians on his show, many of whom became great. I never did, however, think "the edge of wetness" was particularly funny.

Me too. I have not watched any of the late-night show hosts in a long time. All you get is a steady-diet of politics, politics, and politics. If I want to be entertained by politics, I can just flip channels between Fox and CNN.

Here's one more Carnac The Magnificent skit for you:

ANSWER: Politicians, late-show hosts, and diapers.

QUESTION: What 3 things should be changed often and for the same reason?

Nonpareil
Nonpareils are a decorative confectionery of tiny balls made with sugar and starch, traditionally an opaque white but now available in many colors. Their origin is uncertain, but they may have evolved out of the pharmaceutical use of sugar, as they were a miniature version of comfits.More at Wikipedia
Alternative names:Sprinkle Chips (US), Hundreds & Thousands / 100s & 1000s (UK)
Type:Confectionery
Main ingredients:Sugar, starch, food coloring

Same here. The intelligence and wit have gone away from late night tv monologues. And the stupid questions they ask the guests. Unless the networks come up with another Carson or Leno, they are dead. I'd rather see a silent film from the 1920's

I watched Johnny and Ed many times during the 60s and 70s. The first time I saw Don Rickles, Mr. Warmth, on the Tonight Show, I laughed so hard my stomach muscles hurt for days. Don was the best.
