We were going to go to Tioga Pass last week, but the fire south of Yosemite kept us away. We drove up Highway 88, which was still too smoky for any grand vistas. However, we did find our way to one place which gave us a taste of the granite domes we'd foregone. Here is a view of the Bear River canyon, taken from the dam at Bear Lake.
7-frame pano, taken on impulse without benefit of tripod, stitched in PS6 and tweaked in LR5. Camera was my aging Canon Xsi, 17-85 lens at 28mm, 1/125 sec at f11.

Would like to see in color.
Great photo HT. The tones really are impressive. I have the exact same camera. It always helped me produce great photos.

Looks much better in black and white, but I can post it in color when I get home later today.
Very nice capture, HT! It does not have to be new to be good.

Here is the color version someone asked for. The white in the sky is not actually cloud, but rather smoke from the Redding fire. To me, the color version is nice (damned with faint praise), but the b+w version has something extra going on.
As to the Xsi, I am generally pleased with the camera. I've been using it for ten years and it's always been reliable. The only shortcoming I see is it does not handle low-light situations well. I understand more recent models have better high-ISO performance, so someday I will upgrade. But today is not that day.
