I'm relatively new to UHH, but thoroughly enjoy the daily discussion topics. Figured I might as well introduce myself - I've been playing around with photography for about 5 years, but still consider myself a novice. Trying to learn as much as I can, but it seems the more I read and research, the more complicated and confusing things get.
I have a Nikon D7500 and two lenses: a Tamron 18-400 mm F/3.5-6.3 and a Tokina 11-20mm F/2.8. I also recently purchased a Nisson flash and have started experimenting with that.
For post processing I use PS Elements and Photomatix Essentials (for HDR)
My main interest is landscape photography, but am also interested in portrait photography (I have a 1 year old granddaughter that is driving that) and sports photography.
I am planning a road trip through a number of National Parks in October and am trying to get geared up for that.
Welcome and you drink the good stuff. If you are coming thru Colo. make sure you check on the fire situation. We have about 8 fires going on right now and we are in a terrible drought. Everything is BROWN including the animals.

Welcome, for road trips, check out a website, roadtrippers.com. Great site for finding things on the road from point A to point B. I have been to all 50 states and have used it for every state except Hawaii and Alaska, flew to those two. If you are 62 or older, get the senior pass, I think it is now $20.00 per year and after 4 years it is good for life. I was lucky enough to get mine when they were $10.00 and good for life.

Roadtrippers is a lot of fun, used it to plan an upcoming Yellowstone to Rapid City road trip.

Hi Jim, first let me also welcome you to UHH.
To tell you the truth, the only lens i have is a Tamron 18-300 lens. That lens has been all over the world with me. I find it is the most versatile of all the lenses i have had. You have from wide angle to telephoto. When i started off, i had a myriad of lenses, ranging from 50mm to 300 mm, and i found that lugging all that equipment around was a daunting task. I would say, using your one 18-400 would work out extremely well.
But in any event, for now, concentrate on one or two things so that you're not overwhelmed. Look at other peoples work here, ask questions...(for every one you ask, you will probably get 20 answers.) But above all, have fun...
