I just noticed that of the last nine items I ordered from Amazon, only two were delivered within two days. Most have taken 4 - 5 days to arrive. I ordered something just now, and it's scheduled for delivery on Monday. I could have gotten it tomorrow if I had paid $3.99 more. They still say it's "2 business days," and I placed the order a little after 10:30 AM, so they seem to be using a different method of counting. I hope this isn't going to become their new standard.

Have you ever used Primenow.com? You can get your stuff in 2 hours. I have done it a couple of times and it's pretty cool. I was going to a Christmas party and needed some socks, underwear, and some other stuff and didn't want to go to the mall for this stuff during the holiday rush, so I made an order on Primenow and got it in less than 2 hrs. Your order has to come from the Primenow choices of stuff they offer, and your order has to be over a certain amount but it works.

I'm sure I'm not in their Primenow delivery area, but I'll check. Thanks. My orders aren't usually time-sensitive, and I could always pay the extra charge if I have to get it faster, but I'd like to see them deliver within two business days.

EDIT: Nope! Primenow is not available in this area.

the prime shipping quote is for the shipping only, not WHEN its' going to ship. When I see that delay, I cancel the order and reorder from another seller that WILL get my package to me in 3 days.

Why do we get concerned? Because five day shipping is not two day shipping.

I've noticed that too just in the last couple of weeks. Maybe they are taking longer to pack the items?? What gets me is when they send an email to say that my order has shipped. However they define "shipped" as packed and ready to go but not necessarily picked up by the carrier. To me, "shipped" means already out the door and on it's way. "Shipped on a late Friday afternoon may very well mean it will not be picked up by the carrier until Monday.

I usually get the order the day after I get the shipping email, except for weekends, of course.

I had a funny situation with a cell phone order. First, it was going to delivered on Wednesday, then Monday, then Tuesday. That was all because of UPS, though, not Amazon.

Weekends mess up delivery times, but if they say two days, and the item is available, I should receive it in two days. In many cases, I have received orders the next day - and usually within two days. It's just lately that delivery is stretching to four and five days. That's not why I'm paying for Prime.

No it's not but they never said that it will be two days from the moment you ordered it. They said it will be two days in transit.

Quoting Amazon:

FREE Two-Day Shipping through Amazon Prime If the item you're ordering is out of stock or unavailable to ship immediately, you may not receive the item in two business days.

Selecting One-Day or Two-Day shipping will reduce the transit time to one or two business days after we've shipped your order, but it won't impact how long it takes us to obtain the item or prepare it for shipment.

The shipping method time starts when the item ships.

For example, it will take up to two business days after an item ships to reach you with Two-Day Shipping.

End quote.

Don't like Amazon's shipping? Don't shop them! Buy local, 'ship' your items in your own vehicle. Problem solved.

I placed an order last week, at 10:15PM on Sunday night. Received the acknowledgement email, saying it would be delivered on Tuesday. UPS showed up at 10 AM Monday morning! Less than 12 hours! Sometimes it goes over the 2 days, but most of my stuff comes on time...

Well, you're half right. Items go out the day they are ordered, so "2-day delivery" means just that. If they wait two weeks to put the item in a box, then their 2-day claim is a scam. They don't control the post office, so speed in getting in into the mail flow is what really matters. If I order something and specify Next Day Delivery, I expect it the next day.

Amazon, "FREE Two-Day Shipping
Unlimited fast, FREE shipping on millions of eligible items" Notice the work "fast." As you quoted above, there will be a delay if Amazon doesn't have the item ion stock.

My post was about the change in delivery time. I used to receive virtually all of my orders within two days. Lately, they have taken four or five days to get to me.

It's like the climate. The average earth temperature used to be something. Now it is something, plus.
