Simply put, No!
And of more concern, there is no end to what his supporters and enablers will accept.

Bj's and Sam's club require it, most also required if you pay by check, so his statement isn't entirely wrong.

I never pay with cash so it's not unusual to have to show an ID along with a credit card and this is in my favorite grocery store. Sometimes, I have to be able to recite the last four digits of my credit card to preclude showing a picture ID. So, go ahead and be snarky but know that you are being snarky out of ignorance. I live in Texas where we are overrun with i******s so this is just one more step brought to us by lack of border security.

He's right, if you are writing a check you will need that id, of course had any democrat said something like this it would have been understood.

For all of you who say that it does not happen, just watch this video..... They do v**e as evidenced by this NBC report.

You can't buy at Sam's without buying a membership. What retail grocer's require paid memberships?

I live in Texas and have never been asked for ID when making a purchase with credit card or debit. I guess if you look shady in appearance that might be different.

Again I can't recall being asked for any ID when writing any checks. I rarely ask for one in my business either. I guess I deal with honorable folks everyday. Only had one bad check in 17 years and that was less than $100.00 (if I can recall I believe it to have been around $54.00.

LOL, I am the least shady looking person in the state! I live on Galveston Island where tourists and i******s abound so the identity checks have to be fast and furious (to not coin a phrase).

Oh, MickeyMike, you have been trolled and you took the bait, hook, line and sinker.

Please, oh, please continue to focus on the exactitude of what was said off the cuff and in a rally. I totally understand your befuddlement and your outrage, it's so spot on that you are missing the point of the statement. I hope the MSM does the exact same thing as you and point out that you usually do not need a photo ID to buy groceries, well, except for the times that you do: alcohol, check, credit cards, cigarettes (not sure about that one, I don't smoke, in fact I have no vices.) This will make sure that we discuss the fact you need ID for a LOT of mundane things, but that in many states around the country, you don't have to show ID to v**e. BTW, that is rather unique in the world.

So yes, continue to display your naiveté for all to see, MickeyMike. I'm guessing you haven't been on a plane in the last 30-40 years.

I’ve never been asked to show an ID for any credit card purchase - period, from groceries to recent a 5 figure furniture purchase. I usually don’t even have to sign the pad for purchases under $50. At gas stations I usually have to enter my zip code (I always use self-serve pumps).

The only times I have to show an ID is at a doctors office to ensure I’m not using someone else’s insurance card and, for flights and cruises. I do have to provide my passport when re-entering the country (but that’s a good thing!)

I’d laugh at someone who requested an ID for a grocery purchase and would likely speak with the manager about the break in procedure.

I am not even asked for an ID when I pay for services by check.

I think Trump exaggerated once again and his supporters are rushing to mitigate yet another faux pas.

In certain localities and stores, I have been asked to show ID when using a credit card. It doesn't happen a lot, but I travel quite a bit and it's different in lots of places. I used to go to Indiana quite a bit a few years back, and I was asked for ID EVERY SINGLE TIME I bought alcohol, doesn't matter where, grocery, bar, liquor store. If you buy a certain OTC drug like Sudafed, you have to show ID. I have seen people still pay by check at the grocery store and when they do, they need to show ID.

You need to get out more often.

On the other hand, I have never been asked to show ID at the doctor's office. I know my SSN and TDL numbers by heart, along with my credit card numbers and my passport number.

I travel frequently as well and do not remember when the last time I have been asked for any form of ID when making a purchase. This is just more nonsense to try to push the agenda of v**er ID's. It's utter BS and you know it is.

You need to shop at better quality retailers!

I did forget out Advil purchases. Apparently it is used as an ingredient by people who cook meth.

I travelled extensively for business before retirement and travel a lot now in retirement. I really haven’t experienced a need for an ID. I had to travel to Vincennes IN for business so on that point I still don’t know what you’re talking about.

Maybe you should start going to better places and no, I don’t have show an ID when purchasing any type of alcohol. I lived in Massachusetts and retired to North Carolina... same experience in each state.

It seems you’ll say anything to defend Trump.
