I'm curious as to how others have their cameras set for auto sensor cleaning. On demand, scheduled, or upon switching off. I'm sure the ultrasonic mechanism has a life expectancy and it would seem that prolonging it must be a consideration. Please chime in with your preferred method and experience. Thanks!

Upon switching off. What is the point of having the feature and not using it?

While I do use the sensor cleaning feature but I have cameras with features I don't want to use. Why? Because I can't afford the cameras that don't have those features.

I let the camera clean the sensor a couple of times a week. On demand.

Never. What's the point in using a relatively useless feature?

I only own one camera now, a Canon 77D. For the record I'm one of those who clean on shutoff.

I leave it in Auto but only clean on shutdown. Its a very useful feature but using it on startup slows you down if you are trying to fire up the camera for a quick shot.

I don't think my Sony's have Auto clean. Must check. I usually do it after changing lenses.
