I also buy and sell on eBay and Craigslist.
I live in Los Angeles, and Craigslist is part whacko ward. I looked for a Mac for a friend, and there are huuge amounts of ads with huuge amounts of keywords- but no Macs. Tried to sell a $3500 car, and the first four buyers show up- each are dad, mom, two kids- with $500. "It's good earnest money, we're good for payments, we're good Christians, don't make me look bad!" I'd swear there was a class on this. "Out of area" listings- the ad kinda says it's @ 5 miles from me- and it's an easy hour drive to the actual item location.
It is ALWAYS buyer (and seller) beware.
Most times, eBay is no prob. I've had a couple "Nikon" lenses actually be "Canon", so my kid got those. Had a few "shipping" incidents, all from Fedex. Buying cheap from China is a dice roll. You can always open another browser window and research that item. I just sold my d7100 on eBay. It took a week. We both be happy, I got paid. YMMV. EBay works good for me.
