Mostly Photoshop Elements 15. Sometimes NIK. I am putting the book title in, but had not flattened the layers before posted, so it did not show in the image.
To get the snowy forest selected the lamp post, reversed the choice, converted the background to black and white, then reversed the colors to make the sky black and the trees white.

Was looking in PSE 15 for the tool I used to make the light spread into the woods, but could not find it. Checking on line I found out that that tool was dropped after PSE10. Luckily, I did not delete 10 when I updated to 15. Not sure how to move it to 15 (or if it will work in 15), so I will leave 10 on my computer. Can still be used that way. Saw a way to do it in 15, but looks much more complicated.
